More than 500,000 Books have been forcibly removed from Archive.org

Following a four year court battle against publishing giant Harper Collins, the Internet Archive has been forced to remove over half a million books from its site.

And while the ostensible reason behind Harper Collins’ long-running suit is to protect its intellectual property, the fact is that thousands of banned, controversial, and hotly-disputed titles are caught in this massive purge of online knowledge.
